I Love EQ7

Okay.  I have succeeded in doing a basic appliquéd shape in EQ7 Patchwork Draw Applique.  This is someone who cannot draw.  I look forward to playing more.

I watched the EQ7video more than once in order to get this far.  I have been using Quilt Pro for Mac. It is a great program with a good block library.  I have used it several times to resize blocks for my Block Swap Adventure blocks.  It just does not have all the features you can get with EQ7.  I feel really lucky to have won a copy of this great program.  Even getting a new PC so I could use it was nice.  My husband is enjoying the new PC for his photography software.  He is learning Photoshop CS.

I am making a charity quilt with some of a somewhat dubious ebay purchase of 2.5 inch strips.  I am using another Villa Rose pattern.

This is the center of each block.  Have to add the background strips.

Batik Jewels Finished

I finished up my Batik Jewels quilt top.  This is going to be a charity quilt.  I am still deciding where it should go.  Central Texas does not know how to handle ice and a teeny bit of snow.  I am off work today.  So glad I got this done and off my design wall.  Loft Creations inspired me to get a move on.

Now on to my Get Your Hex On and Lucy Boston blocks for this month.  I have the Get Your Hex On hexie's basted.  Still have to pick the other fabrics for my Lucy Boston January block.  I need to get a move on.

Fabric Basket Swap

I finished up my basket for my fabric basket swap.  I used a tutorial on Leslie's Art and Sewing.  It was pretty easy to follow. I made a sample with some polka dot purple fabric first and then made the blue one I was planning on giving.

I loved the polka dot one so much better.  So the polka dot basket is going to my swap partner.  Hope she likes it. I then made a polka dot matching folder for the postcard quilt patterns from Villarose patterns.  My friend Jessica carries all the patterns since her "quilty mom" is the author of the patterns.  Jessica even has some patterns of her own under the label Homegrown. I still have to run by the store and get some velcro for the tab.  As you can see from the picture it is flying in the wind.  I also threw in some mini-charm packs  and a spool of some pretty green Mettler thread. I really had a good time with this swap.  I would do another basket swap any day.  Hmmm.  Good idea for an Austin Modern Quilt Guild swap.

It is all about charity quilts

I got my quilt kit finished for my favorite shop owner's favorite charity.  Someone had donated all this purple batik.  Can't go wrong with batik for a quilt for a young person.  I used the "Apron Strings" pattern and lots of 2.5" strips.

Before that I finished a quilt using a charm pack of "Little Black Dress" by Moda that I won at a meet and greet with the San Antonio Modern Quilt Guild.  I had various neutral solids that I used along with the "Seashell" pattern by Villa Rose Designs.  

Lastly, I finished up some butterfly blocks for our quilt guild's charity quilt for this month.

I am behind on Block Swap Adventure.  I was on vacation, then out-of-town for business.  My swap partner for September and October both want thirties reproduction fabric.  No scraps of that in my scrap pile so I had to head to the quilt shop to buy some.  That is probably the only kind of fabric that I don't have any of in my stash.

We have our grandson for the weekend so I probably will not get much done until Monday.
