New Projects

I finished up a quilt top that I gave to a long arm quilter that is looking for charity quilt tops.  This was a different pattern for me.  It is Strip Twist made with partial seams.  It was easier than I thought.  I had 20 jelly roll strips.  Just enough for a baby quilt size.  I made it just to learn a new technique.  Sorry about the picture.  I could not get it right no matter what.

I also pieced together a table runner from 1 charm pack and 1/8 yard fabric.  I found the pattern Petit Fours at the Moda Bake Shop.  I used a charm pack of Luna Note.  I hope to get it quilted this weekend.  I have a bigger office at our new location and a credenza that needs some sprucing up. The strips are 1 1/2" wide.  Cutting 27 charm squares into three pieces took more time than sewing it together.

Sun, Moon & Stars Wall Hanging

My first original project.  I designed it myself.  I did use a paper piecing pattern from rightpatterns for my sun.  I used my own embroidery machine for all the lettering.  The wall hanging was for a friend for his son's 11th birthday.  He provided the photos and I had my first experience with printable fabric.  It did not turn out as clear as I hoped but the pictures were still pretty good.  It felt good to come up with my own design.  I can really appreciate the work that goes into coming up with a unique design.  I still would tweak it a little if I were to do it again.  My friend was very happy with it and that was the important thing.

It is a little hard to see, but the binding is TaDaDots by Michael Miller.  I won a $25.00 gift certificate from Sky Reve on A Quilting Life's blog giveaway.  Guess what I bought.  Yep.  TaDaDots.  They were perfect.
