My Barn Raising Quilt

I got my barn-raising quilt pieced a while ago but have not gotten around to posting.  It turned out great.  I got the Kaffe fabric in a kit from Remnants Fiber Culture.   She had the same quilt hanging in her shop.  I have not gotten around to getting my backing sewn yet.  I will probably do a lot of quilting after the first of the year.  I need to buy more backing fabric and another roll of batting on sale.

I think I reversed a few of the lights and darks that were mediums. I still like the final result though.

I have been listening to Sirius radio and basting hexies today.  My October blocks are due for my Get Your Hex On bee.  It is very relaxing.  I have all the basting done.  Next step putting them together.  I will get to that tomorrow.  I also have to do my October Block Swap Adventure block.  I am running a little behind.

Shop Hop Day 2

I ended up helping my friend Jessica at her shop on day 2 of the shop hop.  Of course that meant I had to buy some more fabric.  I decided I was going to make handbags for my daughters and granddaughters for Christmas.  I have not gotten beyond zipper pouches and fabric baskets yet so I bought sale fabric for bag practice.  I also decided to splurge and get six fat quarters of Anna Maria Horner Hand Drawn and some Cotton Couture solid to make a small quilt.  I certainly got plenty of practice in cutting and folding fabric.  Makes me glad I do not have a fabric store.  It is a lot of work.

I won some goodies from a my friend Barb's blog at  Bejeweled Quilts by Barb.  She had some Heat N' Bond and fusible vinyl to give away.  She is trying out these new products.  She does a lot of applique.  I am excited to try it out.
